About Me
I offer a solid foundation of over 30 years experience across many facets of the hospitality sector, including holiday homes, private rentals, B&Bs, serviced apartments, boutique hotels and luxury residences.
I began my hotel career at Hilton as a room attendant in the early 80s and have since carved a hospitality career within boutique and multi-national hotel and serviced residence brands, across the 3 to 5 star markets and in all departments.
Since 1996, I've held senior Sales, Marketing and Operations roles at Director and MD level for independent businesses as well as UK and international brands including Chard Property Management, Oakwood Worldwide, The Ascott Limited (including Somerset, Citadines and Ascott brands), Deep Blue Apartments/Flying Butler, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), and Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts.
In my consultancy capacity since 2014, I have worked closely with a variety of brands including The Zetter Group (The Zetter and The Zetter Townhouse brands), My Hotels Group (London and Brighton), Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts (Ten Trinity Square), The Pilgrm, London and Sorted Stay - a serviced accommodation provider.
In Italy since 2017, I have advised new and expanding hotels on all areas of their business strategy, including Relais Almaranto and Apricus Boutique Hotel and work with potential investors seeking to purchase and renovate old buildings for the hospitality market.
I have managed local, national and globally dispersed teams from 2-25+ people and offer first-hand experience of running multi-brand strategies for multiple locations, as well as single-site operations.
In my Director capacities, I have pre-sold and launched 11+ UK hotels/aparthotels and overseen the rebranding and repositioning of a further five, as well as a number of smaller serviced apartment operations.
Since June 2023, I’ve taken on the role of Non-Exec Commercial Director for River Projects, a development consortium aimed at the boutique and alternative hospitality accommodation market in UK and Europe.
Working across both the serviced apartment and hotel sectors has enabled me to be responsible for revenue budgets of £3M-£35M, and marketing budgets of £200K-£1M+, perfectly positioning me to offer a broad scope of advice and support to hospitality businesses of all sizes.
With responsibilities to both owners and brand operators during my career, I appreciate the need to balance operational effectiveness and results of an operator with the demands and financial commitments of owners and investors.
Furthermore, I offer 20+ years personal involvement with both the lettings and holiday rentals markets via my own investments in the Cotswolds and Italy, combining my personal passions for interior design, historic architecture, good food and wine, most recently with my newest venture, Villa Menaluna (www.menaluna.com).
